US EPA Honors Microvi for its Outstanding Accomplishments
Hayward, CA (July 11, 2023) - Microvi Biotech Inc. is thrilled to announce that it has been awarded the prestigious EPA Administrator's Award for Outstanding Accomplishments by a Small Business Contractor. This recognition highlights Microvi's exceptional contributions as a valued partner of the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
Microvi was selected for this esteemed award for its groundbreaking work in developing an energy-efficient process based on its platform technology to remove and recover phosphorus. Microvi successfully designed, built, and operated a sequencing batch reactor (SBR) pilot demonstration to test and optimize the conditions for maximum phosphorus uptake and recovery. Under optimized conditions, the technology consistently achieved remarkable success in reducing phosphorus to less than 0.1 mg P/L from initial feed concentrations of 6-8 mg P/L within the primary effluent from the wastewater treatment plant (WWTP).
