Microvi Working with South West Water as They Begin the Nitrogen Treatment Technically Achievable Limit (N-TAL) Program

Hayward, CA (October 30, 2025) – Microvi is proud to announce that we will be working with South West Water as they begin the Nitrogen Treatment Technically Achievable Limit (N-TAL) Program.

This program is more than a compliance exercise.  It is about advancing the sector’s understanding of how to achieve low nitrogen limits sustainably. Improved effluent quality benefits watercourses, but also demands greater energy efficiency, tighter control, and smarter carbon dosing.

Microvi’s containerized MNE™ system will be one of the three trial technologies used during this Program.  Our technology stands out because of its scalable, modular biotechnology for high-efficiency nitrogen removal. The MNETM technology has the ability to integrate with existing assets and perform reliably even on smaller sites which makes it a genuinely disruptive technology for the future.

Microvi’s founder, Dr. Fatemeh Shirazi and Vice President of Business Development, Ali Dorri had the pleasure of travelling from California to the Exeter Science Park, for a workshop and meet-and-greet with South West Water’s scientific and design partners. The discussion included the deployment, integration, and wider opportunities this technology offers under the N-TAL program.
