Microvi Achieves Major Commercial Milestone for its Award-Winning MNE Technology for Increasing California’s Drinking Water Supply
October 3, 2022 – Pasadena and Hayward, CA – Microvi, a leader in sustainable biological solutions for global environmental challenges, announced a major milestone in its mission to increase the supply of California’s drinking water. In more than five years of commercial operation, Microvi’s MNE technology system at Sunny Slope Water Company (Pasadena, California) has removed more than 13,000 lbs. of nitrate and produced 150,000,000 million gallons of clean drinking water.
Nitrate is one of the world’s most prevalent groundwater contaminants, affecting more than a billion people worldwide and impacting the water supply of vulnerable regions, including California.
Microvi’s MNE installation in Pasadena, California, at Sunny Slope Water Company, was first commissioned in 2017. This plant meets the state’s strict drinking water standards without producing brine or a substantial secondary waste stream. The award-winning technology has been demonstrated and deployed in multiple sites in the US and UK.
